In 1943, the founder Mr. Othon Lynch Bezerra de Mello merged the company Companhia Brasileira de Novos Hotéis, iniciating one of the largest hotel chain in Brazil with national capital and units in Europe.

With more than six decades in the Hotel Market, Hotéis Othon is one of the largest network of hotels in Brazil. While Othon Hotels has enjoyed the tradition and the respect gained during all these years, the future is ever one of its deep concerns. Then, Othon has been investing on the modernization of its hotels, aiming at the businesses tourism and leisure market.

The first Othon hotel was launched in Rio de Janeiro in 1943, former "Hotel Aeroporto" close to the city airport, today known as Aeroporto Othon Travel. In the fifties it was launched the São Paulo Othon Palace in the capital of São Paulo state. Until the seventies it was built and launched seven more hotels at the famous Copacabana beach. In 1975, Othon group of hotels launched the Bahia Othon Palace, in Salvador. In the following year, it was launched the "Rio Othon Palace", which is still the main hotel of the group. Some years later, we launched the "Belo Horizonte Othon Palace".

From the year 2000 on, the Othon group of hotels started to operate third parties units abroad with 11 units in countries such as France, Portugal, United States of America, Argentina and Peru.

In 2003, Othon decided to invest in a new market, creating the brand "Othon Pousadas", starting to manage tourist class hotels or "Bed & Breakfast" in Petrópolis and Paraty. In the same year, there was the start-up of the managing of condoms with the launch of the Othon Brand "Othon Flats" (today "Othon Suítes"), with five units with A luxury segment located in São Paulo.

At the moment, we currently operate 12 hotels, four of which are wholly owned by the Company and eight of them owned by third parties, which are managed units. The Othon group of hotels has units in the most important urban regions such as Rio Janeiro (Rio de Janeiro capital and Macaé), São Paulo (São Paulo capital, araraquara, São Carlos and Matão cities), Belo Horizonte, Salvador, Fortaleza, Natal and Recife.

Hotéis Othon is going through a modernization project of its units, maintaining its architectural characteristics from the time its hotels where launched, but also including the best and most modern facilities offered in moderns hotels throughout the world.

The first modernized hotel was the Bahia Othon Palace, where it was built the new Convention Center. Followed by the mordernization of the Belo Horizonte Othon Palace.

The Rio Othon Palace unit, situated at the famous Copacabana beach, is one of the most famous national luxury hotel, with Its 572 bedrooms distributed in its 30 floors. Seven floor are now, after the modernization, included in the LUXURY category, focusing on business executives guests. All of them have internet broad band, king size double beds, large LCD TVs, direct phone with double lines. The suites have hidros. In addition, the restaurants were refurbished, also with swimming pool´s brand new and modern furnitures.

The Othon hotels once more invest in the improvement of its attendance services, becoming a reference in the art of receiving its guests. In addition the group maintains partnerships to take care of social projects, such as the hiring of people with special needs as employees in the Hotel Market, the UERÊ Project that assists the careless children and teenagers and also the project of environment protection called CLEAN THE WORLD, among others. Thus, due to all those facts, three generations of guests are welcome by three generations of professionals who are still working with hospitality. Then, the guests feel like they are at home, with all the comfort and attention they deserve.

The Othon hotels still have a huge trade network with bookings centers in Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo, offices in Brazil as a whole, domestic and international trade representatives, besides several telemarketing operators and an electronic booking system. Finally, Othon is one of the few companies in Brasil that integrates the Global Distribution System strategic alliance with WORLDHOTELS through its own WW code, which allows any worldwide agency the booking of rooms in all its group of hotels. In 2010 the Othon hotels made a partnership with VOILÁ, one of the most traditional management companies of fidelity programs.

The group has an efficient corporate management structure focused on a rigorous process of cost control, on the seeking of results and profitability and mainly on offering excellent services, with sustainable growth and increased financial returns to the shareholders.

The Brazilian Hotel Market has a trend of significant increase due to the sports events to be occurred in the near future and to the increased income and economic activity in Brazil, thus generating higher flow of corporate guests or leisure tourism groups.
